From Afghanistan to Colorado’s 4th District: Retired Rear Admiral Eileen Laubacher Reflects on a Lifetime of Service in Final Campaign Ad

HIGHLANDS RANCH, CO — Retired Rear Admiral Eileen Laubacher has released the closing ad of her campaign, highlighting her lifelong commitment to serving her country. That commitment began when she joined the Navy at 17, carried her through 34 years of military service, including a deployment to Afghanistan in 2009, and continues today as she runs to represent Colorado’s 4th Congressional District.

The ad opens with Eileen recalling the moment she felt called to serve in Afghanistan. After learning that the Navy was preparing for a large-scale mobilization of officers at her rank, she attended church with her family, where a hymn was sung that struck a deeply personal chord: “I will go, Lord, if you lead me, I will hold your people in my heart. That’s when I knew that I was being called to go,” said Laubacher. In 2009, she deployed to Afghanistan, leaving behind her husband and five young children for a year.

Over the last year and a half, Laubacher has traveled extensively throughout the district, covering more than 40,000 miles, visiting all 21 counties, meeting with staff at all 14 rural hospitals, attending community events, and hearing directly from the people of this district about the challenges facing their families and their communities.

“This job is not actually supposed to be about the person who holds it – this job is about the people of the 4th District, who have real challenges in their lives, who need someone who shows up, and listens,” Laubacher says in the ad. “I don’t serve a party. I serve you, the people of this district.”

As voters head to the polls, Laubacher reflects on a lifetime of service, expressing gratitude and reaffirming her commitment to the people of the Colorado’s 4th district : “I’ve dedicated my life to service of my country, and it’s been an honor and a privilege to have another chance to serve my community. I am so grateful to all those who have supported me and volunteered with my campaign, for your trust and your time. As your Congresswoman, I will hold every person in Colorado’s 4th District in my heart, and will always put you first.”
