Lauren Boebert votes to kill hospital and public health projects for her own district
After previously voting to gut Medicaid in Colorado and kick tens of thousands off their healthcare, Boebert votes to axe critical rural health projects in Cheyenne Wells & Fort Morgan
Highlands Ranch, CO – Rep. Lauren Boebert is continuing her all out assault on Coloradans’ healthcare.
Yesterday, Boebert voted for an extreme amendment to the appropriations bill that sought to strike local project funding from a key part of the package. The measure had bipartisan opposition, with more than 70 members of her own party voting against it.
“Lauren Boebert voted against hospital and public health projects in her own district,” said Eileen Laubacher. “Her vote targeted critical improvements in Cheyenne Wells and Fort Morgan that would strengthen emergency care, expand public health services, and keep rural hospitals functioning. Those projects would mean safer communities, healthier families, and care closer to home. That vote is not leadership - that’s abandoning the people you are suppose to be fighting for.”
This bill included critical projects in her own district – improvements to Keefe Memorial Hospital in Cheyenne Wells and the construction of a new public health facility in Fort Morgan that would expand healthcare access for rural Coloradans
Boebert has previously voted in numerous ways to raise premiums and take healthcare away from her constituents. After Boebert refused to fully extend the Affordable Care Act, health insurance premiums have now doubled on average for more than 200,000 Coloradans, forcing them to pay more for the same care.
That came after Boebert gutted Medicaid, kicking nearly 25,000 of her constituents off their healthcare, putting rural hospitals – including Prowers Medical Center in Lamar – and providers at risk of closure or cutting services, and pushing nursing homes to the brink of closure.
