FIELD DIRECTOR
Job Title: Field Director
Reports To: Campaign Manager, Taylor Gillespie
Salary: $6,000–$8,000/month
Start Date: ASAP
Position Type: Full-time, through November 2026
Location: This is a primarily in-person role based in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District. You are expected to work on-site most weekdays, with limited flexibility for telework. Evening and weekend availability is required for in-person events and campaign activities, as well as for managing field organizers on a day-to-day basis.
About the Campaign
We’re building a people-powered campaign to flip Colorado’s 4th Congressional District and elect Rear Admiral (Ret.) Eileen Laubacher. Eileen is a national security leader, mom of five, and public servant with deep roots in Colorado and a deep respect for the Constitution. This is a high-stakes race against Lauren Boebert, and we’re looking for a Field Director who’s ready to bring hustle, strategy, and integrity to the fight.
Position Overview
The Field Director will serve as a senior staff member on the campaign team, reporting to the campaign manager, and will write and oversee all aspects of the organizing program. We’re seeking a field director with experience designing and implementing a district-wide organizing program across both rural and suburban communities.
A significant portion of the Field Director's role will involve overseeing the organizing team, including training and managing organizers on a day-to-day basis, setting and monitoring weekly and monthly DVC and volunteer recruitment goals and reporting standards, managing data collection across departments, and ensuring adherence to staffing and event protocol.
The ideal candidate is an experienced organizing professional who has managed a team of at least 2-4 organizers in a congressional or similarly scaled race or region.
Responsibilities
Overall Strategy:
Help develop and manage a comprehensive district-wide organizing plan that aligns with the campaign's overall strategic goals, targets, and capacity by region. Including plans for:
Field staff management and infrastructure
The overarching volunteer program and goals
Direct voter contact goals and timeline for both persuasion and turnout
A comprehensive GOTV and ballot chase program
Staff Management
Help develop all materials for the organizing programs' use, including internal organizing staff training supplies, field reporting and tracking documents, Data and outreach standards, and any materials related to volunteer recruitment, management, and training.
Ensure organizers have the necessary structure, support, and supplies they need to meet both short-term and long-term call, shift, and event goals, as well as other metrics for their region.
Manage both the short-term and long-term structure of the field program, balancing daily oversight of organizers’ time, goals, and reporting (with regular morning, evening, and hourly check-ins) with the broader systems, infrastructure, and strategy required to keep the team operating at scale.
Oversee the volunteer program to ensure the effective recruitment, training, and engagement of volunteers by the organizers.
Operations & Data
Manage and maintain accurate and up-to-date volunteer recruitment, DVC, and other campaign data in VAN.
Use field metrics and data to inform organizing strategy and targeting
Report out weekly field metrics for the campaign manager and senior team.
Work across departments to maximize events and targeting.
Events & Community Engagement
Plan and execute voter-facing events such as community forums, house parties, and meet-and-greets in addition to all direct voter contact and volunteer events.
Collaborate across departments to ensure a consistent campaign presence at local parades, fairs, and other community gatherings.
Serve as a public-facing representative of the campaign at party meetings and community events.
Qualifications
2–4+ years of organizing experience on political campaigns or for issue advocacy (regional, deputy, or director-level experience preferred).
Proven ability to write an organizing plan, including building the surrounding infrastructure and managing the staff needed to execute at scale.
At least 1 year of experience managing and training organizing staff and/or volunteer leaders .
Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
Experience with Moblize, Scale to Win, and other Bonterra tools. Proficiency in Excel & Google Suite preferred.
High-level experience at the admin level with Votebuilder/VAN preferred.
Demonstrated ability to manage ambitious DVC and shift goals under tight deadlines.
Knowledge of Colorado’s political landscape is a plus.
Passion for electing Democrats and defeating extremists like Lauren Boebert.
